What muscles does peg board training work?
Peg board climbs heavily target the forearms, grip, biceps, lats, shoulders and core, while also demanding coordination and body control throughout the movement.
Is this suitable for commercial gym use?
Yes. The birch plywood construction and solid wooden pegs are designed to handle frequent use in busy gym, PT studio and CrossFit environments.
What wall type can this be mounted to?
The board must be fixed to a solid structural wall such as brick or concrete, or securely into reinforced timber studs. Correct fixings are essential for safe installation.
Does the board come with pegs?
Yes. Solid wooden pegs are supplied and designed for a snug, secure fit in each hole.
What size options are available?
Two lengths are available to suit your space:
1220mm × 300mm × 40mm and 1600mm × 300mm × 40mm.
Is peg board training only for climbers?
No. While popular with climbers, peg boards are widely used in functional fitness, strength & conditioning and calisthenics to develop pulling strength and grip endurance.
Can beginners use a peg board?
Yes, though it is a challenging movement. Beginners can scale by starting from seated or partial bodyweight positions and gradually building strength.
How much space is needed to install it?
The board has a narrow 300mm width, making it suitable for compact spaces, provided there is enough vertical clearance to climb safely.
How can this be programmed into training?
Peg board climbs work well in strength circuits, skill sessions, grip finishers or as part of upper body conditioning workouts.
