Olympic barbells vary in weight depending on your strength and training level, however officially they are 20 kilograms or 45 pounds. A women's Olympic barbell weighs in less, at 15 kilograms or 33 pounds. Our 7.5 and 10kg training bars are perfect for technique practise of for those new to training.

There are many differences between an Olympic barbell and a standard barbell that somebody new to training might not notice. The biggest noticeable difference is that the sleeves on a regular barbell are 25mm and do not rotate. Whereas an Olympic barbell has 50mm, rotating sleeves. The rotation on an Olympic barbell helps alleviate pressure and strain on the wrists and elbows, meaning you can train harder and for longer periods of time without feeling tense. Olympic barbells are designed to withstand much higher weights than standard barbells. They’re designed to flex under high loads, without the rotating sleeves, weightlifting movements would become difficult.
The sleeve diameter is 50mm, to allow the use of Olympic plates and the shaft is between 28-25mm to align with Olympic weightlifting standards.
