CrossFit: The Correct Gear For The Job

By UKSF on 15 February, 2015

Only a few years ago Olympic weightlifting was a little known sport confined mainly to back street gyms, but now you can walk into almost any facility and see some sort of weightlifting equipment. We feel CrossFit has played a vital role in growing the newfound popularity of the sport, and we are the one-stop shop for all things

We at UK Supreme Fitness know the benefits of Olympic weightlifting and how it can really improve your fitness goals, not only for CrossFit but also for the majority of sports out there. Olympic weightlifting can be a solitary endeavour, however, due to the rise in CrossFit, its growing community and love for Olympic lifting it has really helped to drive weightlifting into the mainstream.

With the growing popularity comes a new demand for high-quality equipment, UK Supreme Fitness take pride in supplying some of the best products available in the UK.

Crossfit equipment for home

Crossfit at home can be a fun and engaging process, and while you will need some equipment, especially the weights, there is a great deal you can do that only requires some space to run the knowledge of what you're doing. The key element of Crossfit is doing the routines correctly without injuring yourself.

Here we will list some important equipment that will help you on your Crossfit journey from home. We would also recommend that you have a look at our blog for how to keep safe doing Crossfit exercises.

Get the Best Gear

The best way to achieve your goals is to have the best coaches, planning, nutrition and high-quality equipment to work with.

Bars

The best bars, for example, should be high-quality steel 28/25mm thick in diameter, have an excellent spin and be able to withstand the demands of the lifts. We provide a wide variety of barbells with a number of weights from 7.5 to 20kg.

A bar is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can own when starting your workout journey so it is key that you understand what weight of bar you will need.

  • The best overall choice would be the 7ft bar with a weight of around 20kg. This is the most common bar size and weight and will likely be the one you use the most.

  • Size does not matter particularly when it comes to the size and weight of a bar, however, you can find shorter 6ft bars with 15kg weight, which may also be preferable for bench press and shorter athletes. We provide both these in cronos and pegasus Olympic types

  • There are also training bars for those that are more new to weight training, in 10 and 7.5kg.

Ultimately the correct bar for you depends on your experience, size and level of experience, and as such you should spend some time thinking about what exactly you want out of your training regiment, and how that will inform what kind of bar you use.

Floor

The lifting areas should be several inches thick to give greater stability and shock absorbance to protect your equipment and the floor. We can advise on, and supply, the best flooring for your workout, whether you need high impact tiles for lifting areas or something softer for your CrossFit workout.

Bumper plates

Our premium bumper plates include a new range made from vulcanised rubber, designed to stay quiet, reduce bounce and never split even during heavy-duty lifting. They come in a range of sizes from 5KG to 25KG. We believe these are so good we have given them a lifetime warranty.
